Red light therapy is a simple, non-invasive treatment that delivers red and near infrared light to a person’s skin and cells! All Kala Red Light devices use LEDs to shine red and near infrared wavelengths of light on your body during a treatment session.
Kala Red Light therapy devices are high powered lights that deliver effective doses even when moved further away from your body. This allows you to treat much larger areas of the body at once compared to other lights. The ideal frequency is between 3x-7x/week (i.e. up to once per day). Start SLOW. Use the lowest doses of range when first starting out. Be conservative with dosing for any sensitive areas.
In short, No. It is not necessary. While some prefer to use goggles, there are many recent studies that suggest red light therapy is very healthy for the eyes and will help slow down the ageing of eyes and improve eyesight. We do not suggest looking directly into the light, especially if you suffer from sensitivity to light. We suggest you discuss it with your doctor prior to using it if you are unsure.
Red light is visible and is most effective for use on the surface of the skin. Red light occupies the “long end” of the visible spectrum with wavelengths of 630nm-700nm. Infrared light is invisible and is effective for use on the surface of the skin as well as penetration of about 1.5 inches into the body. Infrared sits right next to red light on the electromagnetic spectrum at 800nm to 1millimeter.
